Understanding Your Major Exposures

Medicare is a strong foundation โ€” but it doesn't cover everything. These three supplemental policies protect you from the catastrophic out-of-pocket costs that Medicare leaves behind.

Hospital Indemnity

Protection against unexpected hospital costs
What Is It?

A Hospital Indemnity plan pays you a fixed cash benefit for each day you are hospitalized โ€” regardless of what Medicare or other insurance pays. The benefit goes directly to you, not to a hospital or provider.

How It Works

When you are admitted to the hospital, the plan pays a set daily amount (for example, $100โ€“$300 per day) for every day of your inpatient stay, beginning on day one or after a short elimination period. Some plans also pay for ICU stays, surgery, and outpatient procedures at higher benefit levels.

What It Covers
  • Daily hospital confinement benefit โ€” cash in hand each day
  • Covers Medicare Part A deductibles ($1,632 per benefit period in 2024)
  • ICU and intensive care confinement benefits
  • Use funds for any expense โ€” mortgage, groceries, bills, or medical costs
  • Benefits paid regardless of other coverage you may have
Medicare Advantage plans cap your out-of-pocket costs, but hospital indemnity fills the daily gaps โ€” especially for longer stays โ€” keeping your savings intact while you recover.

Cancer Policy

Financial protection when a diagnosis changes everything
What Is It?

A Cancer insurance policy pays a lump-sum or ongoing cash benefit when you are diagnosed with cancer. It is designed to cover the enormous out-of-pocket costs that standard health insurance and Medicare do not fully address during cancer treatment.

How It Works

Upon a covered cancer diagnosis, the policy pays a lump-sum benefit directly to you โ€” often $10,000 to $50,000 or more depending on your plan. Many policies also pay per-treatment benefits for chemotherapy, radiation, surgery, and experimental treatments. You decide how to use the money.

What It Covers
  • Lump-sum cash payout upon initial cancer diagnosis
  • Chemotherapy, radiation, and immunotherapy benefit payments
  • Surgical and hospital confinement benefits related to cancer
  • Transportation and lodging for cancer treatment travel
  • Experimental and clinical trial treatment benefits (varies by plan)
Nearly 40% of Americans will receive a cancer diagnosis in their lifetime. Medicare covers many treatment costs โ€” but not travel, lost income, home care, or the out-of-pocket gaps that quickly add up during a long course of treatment.

Heart Attack & Stroke

Critical illness coverage for life's most serious events
What Is It?

A Heart Attack and Stroke (Critical Illness) policy pays a cash benefit directly to you when you suffer a qualifying cardiac event or stroke. It is built to bridge the gap between what Medicare pays and the true financial toll of a serious cardiovascular event.

How It Works

When you experience a covered heart attack, stroke, or other qualifying cardiac condition, the policy pays a lump-sum cash benefit โ€” typically $10,000 to $100,000 depending on the plan. The benefit is paid regardless of what Medicare or other insurance covers, and you can use it for any purpose: medical bills, rehabilitation, home modifications, or daily living costs while you recover.

What It Covers
  • Lump-sum benefit upon heart attack or stroke diagnosis
  • Coronary artery bypass surgery and cardiac catheterization benefits
  • Rehabilitation and physical therapy cost coverage
  • Home health aide and skilled nursing facility assistance
  • Income replacement during recovery period
Heart disease is the leading cause of death in the United States. A single cardiac event can trigger tens of thousands of dollars in rehabilitation, home care, and lost-income costs that Medicare simply doesn't address. This policy gives you a financial safety net when you need it most.

Frequently Asked Questions

Still have questions? We've answered the most common ones below โ€” or call us anytime at 877-714-8781.

Is there really no cost to use your services?
Yes, absolutely. Our advisors are licensed independent brokers compensated directly by the insurance carriers when you enroll. There is never any fee, charge, or obligation for speaking with us or comparing plans.
When can I enroll in a Medicare plan?
There are several enrollment windows: Initial Enrollment Period (around your 65th birthday), Annual Enrollment Period (October 15 โ€“ December 7), and various Special Enrollment Periods if you experience qualifying life events such as losing employer coverage.
What's the difference between Medicare Advantage and Medicare Supplement?
Medicare Advantage (Part C) replaces Original Medicare through a private carrier and often includes extra benefits like dental and vision. Medicare Supplement (Medigap) works alongside Original Medicare to cover gaps like deductibles and copays. The best choice depends on your health, doctors, and budget โ€” we'll help you compare.
Will I be able to keep my current doctors?
Keeping your doctors is one of the most important things we check before recommending any plan. We verify network participation for your specific providers and only recommend plans that include them, so you can stay with the care team you trust.
Do you offer plans in my state?
We are licensed and active in over 30 states including Alabama, Arizona, California, Florida, Georgia, Illinois, Michigan, North Carolina, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Texas, Virginia, and many more. Call us at 877-714-8781 to confirm availability in your state.
What if I already have Medicare โ€” can you still help?
Absolutely. Many people are already enrolled in Medicare but may not be in the best available plan. During Annual Enrollment Period (Oct 15 โ€“ Dec 7), you can switch plans freely. We conduct complimentary annual reviews to ensure your coverage still fits your needs and budget.
How long does the enrollment process take?
Most enrollments are completed in a single phone call, typically 30 to 45 minutes. Once submitted, your new coverage usually begins on the first day of the following month, or on January 1st if enrolled during the Annual Enrollment Period.
What information do I need to have ready when I call?
It's helpful to have your Medicare card (red, white, and blue), a list of your current prescriptions and dosages, and the names of your doctors and preferred hospitals. Don't worry if you don't have everything โ€” we can still help and gather information as we go.
Are Medicare Advantage plans really free?
Many Medicare Advantage plans have $0 monthly premiums, but you still pay your Part B premium to Medicare. Depending on the plan and your usage, there may be copays and cost-sharing. We'll walk you through the full cost picture so there are no surprises.
What happens after I enroll โ€” will I have ongoing support?
Yes. Our relationship doesn't end at enrollment. We're available year-round to answer billing questions, help with claims issues, conduct annual reviews, and assist with any plan changes. You'll always have a real advisor to call โ€” not a generic customer service line.
